Cian Henry (born April 20, 2002, Colorado Springs, Colorado), more commonly referred to by his stage name SaintCi, is an Irish-American singer, songwriter, and rapper. Beginning his career in 2021, SaintCi has already seen success with his third studio single "In Advance", his 2022 summer hit "Never Met", and his two-song underground experimental hip-hop "HANDSUP¡!" project.
Early life
Growing up, Ci was exposed to many artists and bands from Europe. Artists like Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Tears For Fears and The Smiths inspired Ci at a very young age and sparked a burning passion that would later change his life. As time continued and SaintCi began to find new artists and explore the world of music on his own, he found all types of artists and genres that fueled his fire. In late elementary school, SaintCi dove deep into the world of music and found electronic dance artists like Daft Punk, Gorillaz & Calvin Harris which initiated his interest in producing and creating music. Throughout late elementary school and middle school (Years 6-9) Cian would begin tinkering around in applications like Garageband, and FL Studio 20 creating remixes, mash-ups of his favorite songs, or his own little projects. This passion for creating music continued as Ci advanced into high school, and as he advanced his music taste evolved. In 2016, SaintCi stumbled across The Heart Part IV by Kendrick Lamar, a track that was later deleted, but nonetheless made Ci fall in love with hip-hop. After falling in love with hip-hop and rap, SaintCi began producing beats inspired by Metro Boomin, Kal Banx, and other producers, and rapping over them for fun. In 2019, SaintCi decided to release his first project "New Kid" on all platforms, which like The Heart Part IV, has since been deleted, and the rest is history.
Music career
Starting unprofessionally in 2019, SaintCi dropped his first project "New Kid" on all platforms which later got abruptly unreleased in early 2020. SaintCi then took a year long hiatus before returning to music and pursuing it harder than ever before and deciding to "drop out" of high school. In early 2021 SaintCi began recording at AHRecords run by engineer Andrew Baker or Andiroo, debuting his single "Wake Up" on April 24, 2021. SaintCi then saw his first glimpse of success later in August 2021 with his third studio single "In Advance" which got reposted by close to 1000 people in the first 48 hours, and was Ci's first song to break 5-digits. Continuing to ride the wave of summer heartbreak songs, SaintCi released "Never Met" during the summer of 2022, which put Ci on the radar as an artist to watch and was his first song to begin getting pushed by the music streaming service Spotify. SaintCi recently released a two-song underground alternative rap project titled "HANDSUP¡!" which has started going viral and gained SaintCi many more followers.
Record Label
In early 2023, SaintCi founded The District Below, an independent record label named after his first band with Ryan Stevens, who helped co-write SaintCi's "Sunsets & Roses" back in 2015. The District Below is a record label looking to motivate, inspire and help independent artists like Ci himself.
